New York Jets: Behind Enemy Lines With The Kansas City Chiefs
By Nick Ziegler
The New York Jets will be facing the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3. Let’s get to know the Chiefs better from a great writer who covers them closely.
Week 3 of the regular season will be an important game for the New York Jets. Entering Week 3, they currently hold a 1-1 record and are looking up at a 3-0 New England Patriots team in their division.
Due to the Patriots being undefeated without Tom Brady, the Jets are likely going to have to get a Wild Card spot if they want to make the playoffs. Like the Jets, Kansas City has a tough team in the Denver Broncos that they are looking up at in the standings.
This conference matchup could mean a lot at the end of the season when both teams are possibly fighting for a playoff spot. If the Jets want to make the playoffs in 2016, a team like the Chiefs is one that they have to beat. They already have one loss in the conference to the Cincinnati Bengals, and they can’t afford the losses to potential playoff teams to pile up.
With that being said, Ben Almquist took the time to help us get to know exactly what to expect from the Chiefs this week. Ben is a great writer for KCKingdom.com, and here is what he had to say about the Chiefs heading into Week 3.

Nick Ziegler: Will Jamaal Charles be making his season debut?
Ben Almquist: “It is looking less and less likely that Jamaal Charles will make his debut this week. The Chiefs are not rushing him back onto the field, and are perfectly content to rely on Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West. That said, Andy Reid has admitted that Charles is physically able to be on the field and is practically foaming at the mouth to be out there. It won’t be long before the star running back is on the field, but I don’t think we see it this week.”
Nick Ziegler: Can Alex Smith exploit a pass defense that has been struggling?
Ben Almquist: “Smith has the ability and the weapons to do it. The question will be how the gameplan matches up, and does he execute it properly. Chiefs fans were shocked last week that that Smith kept forcing the ball to a struggling Jeremy Maclin, but not to Travis Kelce who has lit up the Texans in the past. Hopefully someone on that Chiefs staff has realized that targeting one player so much more than everyone else simply doesn’t work. If the Chiefs come out and spread the ball around, they will be effective.”

Nick Ziegler: Will the offensive line be able to handle the talent up front for the Jets?
Ben Almquist: “The Jets have one of the best defensive lines that I can remember, so this is a tall task. The Chiefs are excited about the potential of their offensive line, and rightfully so. However, there are still some issues to iron out, and KC will be down at least one starter. There are going to be holes that the Jets can exploit. The Chiefs have won with much worse offensive lines over the last three seasons, so they can get past this. It will be a real test though.”
Nick Ziegler: Do the Chiefs have the depth in the secondary to contain a talented receiving corps?
Ben Almquist: “The Chiefs actually have a very talented secondary. It is also very young. The Jets are undoubtedly going to connect on a few big plays, just as the Texans did. However, this young group of DBs in Kansas City is able to step up and make big plays itself. The Chiefs are pretty excited about their top four corners. Each of them has the ability to play a strong game. I think the Jets will get their yards through the air, but KC will also get some big plays of their own.”

Nick Ziegler: Who do you think will come out on top in Week 3?
Ben Almquist: “Last week the Chiefs offense was flat. They shot themselves in the foot a lot. I don’t see that happening this week, and expect Jeremy Maclin to get himself a nice “bounce back” game. It will be a close one as these are both likely playoff teams. Chiefs 27 – Jets 24.”
