The AFC East is beginning to take shape after the first two weeks of the season. Where do all four teams currently stand?

Coming into the season, the AFC East was a division that was hard to predict. The four-game suspension for Tom Brady left the first four games of the season for the New England Patriots a bit uncertain.

After two games, the Patriots find themselves in first place in the AFC East with a 2-0 record. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has played great with Brady out, but he likely won’t be starting again this season. During their Week 2 win against the Miami Dolphins, Garoppolo suffered a shoulder injury and was forced to leave the game early.

Due to the injury to Garoppolo, Jacoby Brissett came in against the Dolphins to finish up the game. On a short week, Brissett will be making his first career start against the Houston Texans. The Patriots have survived already without Brady, but it will be hard to expect Brissett to win as a third-string quarterback.

In second place in the East with a 1-1 record is the New York Jets. In Week 2, the Jets were able to defeat the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football. The win meant a lot to the Jets after what happen in Buffalo in Week 17 of 2015.

After a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1, many put the must-win label on the second game of the season for the Jets. The Jets were able to get the win in Buffalo largely because of the great performance from their offense. Week 3 will not be an easy task for the Jets as they will be facing the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the last two spots in the AFC East, we find the Dolphins and the Bills. Both teams have yet to win a game this season, and they have both already lost to division opponents. The Dolphins have looked a bit better than the Bills, as they were able to play a tight game on the road against the Seattle Seahawks.

Prior to the injury to Garoppolo, the Dolphins were getting run off the field. Miami was able to mount a comeback after the injury, but it was too little too late. The Dolphins will be playing their first home game in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns. That game will certainly be a winnable one for the Dolphins.

Finally, we have the Bills. It is not looking good for Rex Ryan and company in 2016. Offensive coordinator Greg Roman has already been fired, and if the losses keep coming, Ryan likely will be too. Week 3 is do-or-die for the Bills. A 0-3 start to the season almost guarantees that they won’t be in the playoffs this season.

Unfortunately for the Bills, the Arizona Cardinals will be coming to visit in Week 3. The Cardinals looked very impressive in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the Bills will have the advantage of being at home against a West Coast team.
