No. 2: The absence of David Wright, Curtis Granderson has picked up the slack in being a presence and go-to guy in the clubhouse. But, is that enough to keep him around?

All you need to know about Curtis Granderson’s production this year is that he’s logged 20 home runs but only 34 RBI. To duplicate that feat would be virtually impossible, especially since he’s had 75 hits other than home runs.

He’s been the good soldier. Collins has shifted him around trying to find a sweet spot in the lineup and outfield hoping to jump start him, but nothing has worked.

The problem for the Mets is finding a suitor if they decide to trade him. Granderson is scheduled to earn $15 million next year, the final year of his contract, per spotrac.com. Eating part of it would represent a change in the organization’s conservative ways.

At 36, his best days are behind him, and he probably belongs in the American League as a DH with a non-contending team that’s looking for some pop and not much more.

To be sure, Alderson is going to have to be at his very best when giving his sales pitch to other teams.
