The New York Giants opened up training camp last week, as Ben McAdoo is running the show for the first time in his career. The first time head coach will have a lot of pressure on him, as the Giants have missed the postseason for four consecutive seasons, finishing with a record under .500 for the last three seasons.

That led to the team and longtime head coach Tom Coughlin parting ways, and McAdoo getting put in the driver’s seat. One of the problems that Coughlin had towards the end of his tenure was that the Giants just didn’t have the players to perform on the field up to their standards.

While the Giants roster still has a couple of holes, the roster saw an upgrade in a big way as Jerry Reese also finds himself on the hot seat. As a result, Reese, armed with a ton of cap space, went on a spending spree early in free agency. He brought in Olivier Vernon and Damon Harrison along the defensive line, while also re-signing Jason Pierre-Paul and bringing in Janoris Jenkins.

All four players will help lift a Giants defense that was one of the worst in franchise history last season and an embarrassment week in and week out during the 2015 season. While the defensive line is now much improved, there are still some questions for the Giants to answer throughout training camp.

The Giants have some issues at other positions on their depth chart, while there are some starting spots still open. They will make some training camp battles to keep an eye on, as there will be a number of players fighting for playing time in the coming weeks.
