Ben McAdoo Trusts Young Players

McAdoo isn’t shy about throwing his rookies into the fire against each other and opposite veterans on the practice field. One reporter asked about his trust in players such as rookies cornerback Eli Apple and wideout Sterling Shepard.

The Giants head coach responded with sharp comments about his confidence in his players:

"I trust them right now. We’re not going to be afraid to play young players here."

He also spoke about Apple’s place on the practice field going forward:

"He’ll have a chance to work with the first group and the second group. We use [cornerbacks] fairly interchangeably, getting a chance to work on the inside and outside."

At the moment, Apple’s spot isn’t set in stone; it’s a fluid situation. During practices, he’ll see reps on the inside and outside to gain overall experience on the professional level. However, he’ll likely slide into the slot position behind cornerbacks Odell Beckham and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
