New York Knicks Rumors: Former power forward/center Kevin Seraphin was reported to be heading overseas, but it seems that report was actually false.

New York Knicks rumors will probably be relatively quiet in the coming days and weeks as their roster overhaul is probably over. With 14 players already with guaranteed money on the roster, the Knicks will probably extend offers to players in hopes of bringing them into training camp.

Even then, there isn’t much suspense about who will be brought on. Chasson Randle, who shined during Summer League for the Knicks this year, is in contract talks with the Knicks and two other teams. Ron Baker will probably get an invitation as well, as he signed a partially guaranteed deal as an undrafted free agent.

Anyone the Knicks bring into training camp are people they will probably look to add to their NBA D-League team, the Westchester Knicks. They will hope to keep them in the pipeline, teaching them the Knicks’ schemes and hoping they develop as cheaper options to add to the team in coming seasons.

Because of that, the only rumors we will probably see about the Knicks will involve players from last season’s team that are looking for jobs around the basketball world. That brings us to Kevin Seraphin.

More from Knicks Rumors

The unrestricted free agent has faced a cold NBA market thus far, much like he did last season before the Knicks scooped him up on a one-year deal. Seraphin averaged only 3.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.8 blocks and 0.2 steals in only 11 minutes per game.

Those are some of the lowest numbers of his career for Seraphin, as he was unable to find consistent minutes with the Knicks despite the numerous injuries and struggles the team faced. As a result, he is struggling to find a deal with an NBA team, as he was unable to parlay last season’s one year deal into anything significant this offseason.

With a quite market for an NBA deal, a rumor popped up recently that Seraphin was considering an overseas deal with Barcelona of Spain. It was being reported that Seraphin was close to agreeing to a one-year, $2 million deal with Barcelona.

But, it turns out that report was untrue. According to Eurohoops.net, there was nothing to the rumor of Seraphin joining Barcelona. They added that there have not even been contract negotiations between Seraphin and Barcelona.

While Seraphin would probably receive more playing time overseas than he would with an NBA team, it makes little sense financially for  Seraphin to go overseas.

Despite a dead market, Seraphin would probably make more signing with an NBA team to sit at the end of their bench than a team such as Barcelona overseas. At only 26-years old, there is still a chance that Seraphin can blossom if given a chance in the NBA, and with so many teams rebuilding he should be able to land a deal prior to training camp.

At this point in time, it is hard to imagine that Seraphin would be seriously considering deals from teams overseas. While he would play more, he has probably not yet exhausted his options stateside. If he can hold out for a couple of more weeks, he should land another one-year deal with a chance to prove that he deserves a contract worth more money next offseason.
