Can Start The Brotherhood

There were some rumors leading up to the 2016 NBA Trade Deadline that the Knicks could move Carmelo Anthony. With a no-trade clause, there are very few places that Anthony would realistically accept a trade to, as he loves playing in New York. If he was going to accept a trade away from the Knicks, one of the logical landing spots would be whereever James is playing.

James has made it no secret that he too would also enjoy to play with Anthony, but also alongside Wade and Chris Paul, or the Brotherhood as he calls it. If James wants to get the process in motion of making that happen, signing with the Knicks with Anthony already in place would be a good starting spot.

While having the whole Brotherhood in one place is farfetched, we have already seen in the past what veterans are willing to do to play with certain players or in certain places. David West did it last season, declining a multi-million dollar player option to sign a minimum deal with the San Antonio Spurs.

James will not be signing a minimum contract with the Knicks, but playing alongside Anthony would definitely be a nice drawing point for him. There is endless conversation that could be had about how James fits or does not fit alongside Anthony with the Knicks, but if they were going to seriously go after him as a free agent, having Anthony in place is a good place to start.
