Strong Offensive Execution

The Knicks had struggled offensively against the Bucks in their last two meetings, scoring 91 and 92 points after pouring in a season-high 122 in the season opener. Tonight they were able to get closer to the opening night performance than the last two thanks to some solid offensive execution.

The Knicks played beautiful offense throughout most of the game, opening up a lead as big as 22 points in the second half. They were passing the ball extremely well, making the extra pass to find the open man. They shot 39-of-84 from the field for 46.4 percent and 7-of-24 from deep for 29.2 percent.

They struggled a bit with the outside shot, but inside the arc the Knicks were masterful shooting 53.3 percent as the Bucks had no answer. The Knicks outscored the Bucks 44-32 in the paint as the Knicks had a strong showing on the inside.

The Knicks were able to assist on 25 of those makes, with Anthony leading the way with eight. Jose Calderon wasn’t much further behind with seven assists. Everyone in the Knicks’ starting lineup had multiple assists tonight and finished with monster +/- ratios; outside of Robin Lopez’s -3 the lowest one was +15 by Afflalo, with Kristaps Porzingis finishing with +16, Anthony at +24 and Calderon at an insane +33.

Four players made at least half their shots tonight as the Knicks got whatever they wanted whenever they wanted against the overmatched and shorthanded Bucks.
