The Brooklyn Nets suffered a tough blow losing starting point guard Jarrett Jack for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The Brooklyn Nets have a disappointing 10-24 record thus far this season. They added another loss to it on Monday night when they played without starting point guard Jarrett Jack. That will be the first of many games without Jack, as it was announced that he will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

Jack injured the knee against the Celtics in the first game of their home-and-home series on Saturday. It was a non-contact injury, and the Nets’ worst fears became true when it was revealed that Jack did serious damage to his knee. He tore his ACL and also has a small tear in his medial meniscus in his right knee.

This is a big blow for the Nets, as losing a starting player is never an easy thing to overcome. Jack was thought to be in over his head in the opinion of many people coming into the season as the starting point guard, but he was having a solid season for the Nets.

He appeared in 32 games, all starts, and had a 15.1 PER, averaging 12.8 points, 7.4 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.06 steals per game. Those will not be easy numbers to replace, as the assists were tied for sixth in the NBA with Golden State Warriors do it all forward Draymond Green.

This is certainly an unexpected injury, as Jack had been one of the most durable players in the NBA since beginning his career during the 2005-06 season with the Portland Trail Blazers. He appeared in at least 79 games in every season except 2011-12, when the NBA played a shortened season because of the lockout.

How impressive of a feat is that? According to Andy Vasquez of The Record, he is the only player in the NBA to appear in 79 or more games over that time span.

With Jack sidelined, the Nets will turn to Shane Larkin and Donald Sloan to try and replace his production. Larkin will probably step into the starting lineup, but Sloan will get his fair shot at playing as well.

We hope that Jack has a speedy and successful recovery for this devastating injury.
