With the New Year upon us it usually means a time to look back and reflect on the year that past, and the same will go for sports fans about their teams. In New York sports, 2014 brought a lot of disappointment to an area that expects the very best from its teams. Only the New York Rangers were able to live up to the ultra-high expectations of the fans, as they lost in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Los Angeles Kings.

For most New York sports teams, 2014 was filled with lots of losses, as the Brooklyn Nets were the only other New York team to join the Rangers in the playoffs. In baseball, both the New York Mets and New York Yankees missed the playoffs in the 2014 season. Football in New York was arguably the biggest disappointment with the New York Jets and New York Giants combining to go 10-22, with both having long losing streaks in a short season.

Now that 2014 is officially over it gives us a chance to look back at who were the most successful players of the New York sports teams. Here are your rankings for the 25 best players in New York for 2014.
