The New York Giants know who and where they will be playing in 2016 after finishing 2015 6-10 and in third place in the NFC East.

The New York Giants ended their 2015 season on a low note, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles 35-30. While fans will be disappointed about losing to the Eagles to end the season again, it will actually help out the team theoretically next season. With the loss dropping the Giants to 6-10 on the season, they finish third in the NFC East, setting up their home and road opponents for 2016 and giving them what is a weaker schedule on paper because they will be facing the third place team, not second place, in the other NFC divisions.

The big takeaway from the loss to the Eagles is one of the road trips the Giants will have to make. Instead of having to travel northwest and take on the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field, the Giants will be traveling across the pond to take on the St. Louis Rams in London. Traveling to London is a long trip, but it is hard to argue the Giants aren’t catching a break facing the Rams instead of the Seahawks.

That is the only game the Giants know thus far, as they will have to wait until April to see their whole schedule and when they will be playing where. But with the regular season now completed, the Giants will know who they are playing and where they will be playing the games at.

Six of the Giants games will be against NFC East opponents like every season, and they will be playing against the NFC North as their intra conference opponent, and the AFC North as their out of conference opponent.

The division games are one at home and one on the road apiece against the Eagles, Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys. For the other five road games, the Giants will be paying a visit to the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and Rams in London.

For the other five home games, the Giants will be hosting the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and New Orleans Saints at MetLife Stadium.

Some things stick out right away from the opponents the Giants are set to play against in 2016. First off, they will be facing a lot of playoff teams from this season. The Giants will have six games against 2015 playoff teams, five of which will be played on the road.

As mentioned before, the London date is already set, so the Giants will be playing there in Week 7, with a bye Week 8. That is a solid time to have a bye, as it will be right in the middle of the season. This season the Giants had the latest possible bye in Week 11, which they came out of flat by losing their next two games to reach a three-game losing streak.

We also see that the Giants will be playing some cold weather games. In addition to the possibly poor weather at MetLife Stadium in November and December, the Giants will be playing in cold weather cities for all their road games except Dallas and London. They could be playing in a lot of inclemate weather the second half of the season, something they will have to prepare for.

The biggest question of all will be if Tom Coughlin is leading the Giants through this schedule or not. We should know the fate of Coughlin very soon, as many signs are pointing to him retiring and leaving the Giants after 12 seasons with the team.
