The Giants special teams unit had their ups and downs tonight. The coverage teams struggled a little bit, as they could not hold Jarvis Landry fully in check. Landry averaged 33 yards on his two kick returns and 15 on his punt returns as he was really the only spark the Dolphins had all night.

The Giants had some success of their own in the return game too, as Dwayne Harris continued his solid season. He gained 22 yards on his only kick return attempt of the game, and 17.5 return per punt return.
The kicking game was slightly disappointing for a second consecutive week. Josh Brown made all four of his extra points, but missed a field goal for a second straight week. Unlike last week against the Jets, this one did not cost the Giants a victory. Still, it is not encouraging to see him miss kicks for two straight games after being so strong throughout the season.
Brad Wing was strong punting the ball once again as well. He had four punts on the evening, averaging 45 yards a punt with 54 yards being his long. Unfortunately he was unable to pin any inside the 20 yard line like Dolphins’ punter Matt Darr, who pinned four of his six punts inside the 20.
The special teams have been a strength for the Giants throughout the season, but it is something that needs to be cleaned up a little bit in the final stage of the season and in the push for the playoffs.
