Player Of The Game: Kevin Seraphin

The Knicks bench has seen it’s performance dropoff in recent games, but one player that has gotten things going is Kevin Seraphin. Seraphin has earned his playing time with his play, and tonight he rewarded Derek Fisher with yet another strong performance.

Tonight was definitely Seraphin’s best game of the season, as he has begun to cement himself as the top big man option off the bench. He put up season highs across the board against the Rockets tonight on both ends of the court. He played a season-high 32 minutes, adding season highs of 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four blocks. He did a little bit of everything for the Knicks and was a huge help off the bench.

He showed off a number of moves in the post offensively, knocking down left and right handed hook shots. He also has a capable jumper from around 15-feet, which opposing bigs are sometimes uncomfortable to come out and defend.

Defensively, he is not easy to push around at 6-feet-10 inches tall and 280 pounds. He has better athleticism and rim protecting abilities than you would think at that size, evident by the four blocks tonight and the battling he does on the boards.

Expect to see more of Seraphin in the coming games, as he has quickly rose up Fisher’s pecking order and looks to be at the top of the big man rotation off the bench.
