The Orioles had a tough offseason last year with the loss of Nelson Cruz, and this offseason, they may very lose their first baseman, Chris Davis. In 2015, Davis had a monster season, as he totaled 47 home runs, 117 RBIs, and a .262 batting average. The great season by Davis could very well take the Orioles out of the running for signing him.

If Davis signs elsewhere this offseason, Murphy would be an extremely good replacement for the slugger. Murphy won’t come near to 40 home runs no matter where he plays next season, but in a small park like Camden Yards, Murphy should see his home run total rise. The Orioles don’t have a ton of money, but they can afford to sign Murphy likely in the offseason.
