Special Teams Grade: A
The Giants special teams has been a consistent unit all season, and that continued against the Buccaneers on Sunday. Their coverage teams were solid, as they allowed only 21.8 yards per kick return, and one yard on the sole punt return. Bobby Rainey was a player the Giants keyed in on as someone to stop, and they did exactly that.
The one punt return was the only one Brad Wing had all afternoon, and he made sure it was a good one. He boomed it 64 yards down field, making Rainey backpedal for what seemed to be 15-20 yards. He muffed it, and then gained only one yard as the punt coverage team quickly got down field. It was an outstanding punt, as Wing continues to be a bright spot when called upon.

Dwayne Harris didn’t have many opportunities in the return game, as he had only two kick returns on the afternoon. He did well with his chances, averaging 27 yards per return with a long of 28.
The star of the special teams was Josh Brown, who continues to come up big when called upon. He continued his franchise record streak of made kicks, pushing the number to 23. He made all four of his attempts against the Bucs, including a long from 53 yards. The other three came from 35, 35 and 44. He also knocked through his two extra point attempts, as Brown continues to be money for the Giants whenever he takes the field.
Special teams are an underrated part of the game, and when you perform on them as well as the Giants are, good things happen.
