The New York Knicks had a successful first week of their season, ending it 2-1. They were able to pick up two road wins, defeating the Milwaukee Bucks on opening night and the Washington Wizards on Halloween. Their only loss came on the second night of a back-to-back at home to the Atlanta Hawks. The Knicks will be looking to get their first home win of the season tonight, as they host the new look San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs will come to Madison Square Garden for their sole visit of the season with an identical 2-1 record. They lost opening night when they visited the Oklahoma City Thunder, but bounced back to defeat two Atlantic Division foes in the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics. The Knicks will be their second stop on the three-game road trip, and the second night of their back-to-back.

Surprisingly, the Knicks have had some success against the Spurs in recent seasons. They have won at least one time against the perennial Western Conference power in each of the last four non-strike shortened seasons, going 5-4 over their last nine meetings. There aren’t many teams that can make a stake to the claim of having a record over .500 against the Spurs in recent seasons, but the Knicks are one of those teams; will that continue this season?
The Spurs are reloaded, dipping into the free agent market this offseason to make a big splash for the first time in a long time, coming away with a new franchise cornerstone in LaMarcus Aldridge. Combined with Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs have opened their championship window once again as aging stars Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are close to their twilight and handing over the torch.
The Knicks are much improved as well though, and are coming off a strong win against the Wizards over the weekend. Will they be able to carry over that momentum against the Spurs and pick up their first home win of the season?
You will have to tune in and find out. If they are going to pull off the win, a couple of things have to happen. Check out our keys to the game between the Knicks and Spurs tonight.
