Happy NBA Season! The New York Knicks will be getting their season underway tonight, as they will travel to take on the Milwaukee Bucks and Greg Monroe, who spurned the Knicks during free agency. It will be the start to a 2015-16 campaign that the Knicks will want to get off on the right foot to help erase the memories of a putrid 2014-15 season.

Last season, the Knicks struggled mightily, finishing with the worst record in franchise history, winning a lowly 17 games. Injuries were a big problem, as the Knicks were hampered right from the get go when Jose Calderon injured his calf. Carmelo Anthony, Iman Shumpert and Amar’e Stoudemire all missed time, while J.R. Smith struggled to get back on track after his offseason knee surgery. Beyond that, the Knicks had very little in the way of talent, so without those pieces gelling, the Knicks were doomed.

It resulted in the white flag being waved early on, when Shumpert and Smith were shipped to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a salary dump, three-team trade that the Oklahoma City Thunder were also a part of. The Knicks accepted their fate as a bottom dweller, and rode out the season.

Armed with a high draft pick and cap space, Phil Jackson went to work in the offseason. It has resulted in a reshaped roster with legitimate NBA talent, something that could not be said for the team last season. New found confidence, and better talent has the Knicks looking like a team that could battle for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Will they have enough to do so? That is one of the many things that we will be looking for this season, as the new-look Knicks aren’t at contender status yet, but are heading in the right direction.

Will they be able to sneak into the playoffs? We will have to wait and watch during the season, but you won’t have to wait long for our prediction. Read through our slideshow to see if we think that the Knicks will make the playoffs, and some other bold predictions for the 2015-16 season.
