Matt Cassel will be making his first start since being traded to the Cowboys from the Buffalo Bills about a month ago along with a seventh round pick in exchange for a fifth round pick. He will be replacing Brandon Weeden, who showed once again that he is not an NFL worthy quarterback, and now it will be up to Cassel to get their ship back on track.
It will not be an easy task, as Cassel will be without Dez Bryant once again. In his place, the Cowboys will be relying on an underwhelming cast consisting of Terrance Williams, Cole Beasley and Brice Butler. Expect to see a lot of Jason Witten in the passing game, as the ever reliable tight end hurt the Giants in their first meeting this season.
That is, whenever Cassel isn’t handing the ball off. Expect a lot of running from the Cowboys, who have a dominant offensive line and should be using it more to their advantage, especially with Bryant sidelined. But, Cassel will have to throw the ball some if the Cowboys want to come away with a victory, and makes him a player to watch.
Cassel hasn’t attempted a pass since September 21st, 2014 when he was a member of the Minnesota Vikings. Cassel is still getting by on the success he had the one season he replaced Tom Brady in 2008, as many quarterbacks do not receive the amount of chances that he does. He will look to make the most of his next chance with the Cowboys. It will not be easy sledding, as the GIants are hungry for a win after being embarrassed last week and are getting healthier on the defensive side of the ball.
