The New York Giants were able to pick a victory up over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night football, winning 30-27. It wasn’t pretty at all times, but the Giants were able to make enough plays to pull of a victory that was much tougher than many people assumed it would be.

After looking so bad for multiple weeks running, the 49ers offense looked like a more than competent unit against a Giants defense that was missing a ton of parts going into the game. Things only got worse defensively, as the Giants also lost starting middle linebacker Jon Beason on the first drive of the game.

But, they were able to overcome the injuries with some timely plays. The victory is the third consecutive for the Giants, as they look to be gaining confidence and building momentum. The team dedicated this game to teammate Daniel Fells, who is battling a staph infection and could have to have his foot amputated as the disease has spread.

That situation is tough, and our prayers go out to Fells and his loved ones during this tough situation. It may not mean much in the long run, but picking up a win in such an emotional time should be a huge boost for the Giants.

In addition to winning their third straight game, the Dallas Cowboys also lost their third straight, so the Giants are now sitting alone in first place in the NFC East. Who would have thought that three weeks ago following Week 2, when the Giants blew a second consecutive game despite leading by 10 points in the fourth quarter.

That seems like a long time ago now though, as the Giants are riding high. They will look to ride that momentum into a huge divisional matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles next week on Monday Night Football. But, before we get to that, let’s look a little more into the Giants’ Week 5 victory over the 49ers.
