The New York Giants will be hosting the Washington Redskins on Thursday Night Football as the two NFC East members will be renewing their rivalry. The Giants will be looking to get their first win of the season, as they come into the game 0-2 with losses to the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons. The Redskins on the other hand come in with a 1-1 record, losing to the Miami Dolphins and then beating the St. Louis Rams.

It is hard to say that a game in Week 3 is a must win, but this is as close as one can get for the Giants. They cannot afford to fall to 0-3 if they have any hopes of making anything out of the 2015 season. Also, losing two games in division this early in the season makes for a tough hole to come out of. The Giants can avoid that problem though if they can handle business against the Redskins tonight.

This will not be an easy game though, as Thursday night games are always tough to predict. Coming off a short week anything can happen, and the Redskins are coming in with much more momentum than the Giants. But, one advantage the Giants have is that they will be the home team, which gives them an edge as they will not have to travel on the short week.

More from New York Giants

The Giants will be very shorthanded heading into the game, as they already announced five players out heading into the game, headlined by starting cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and wide receiver Victor Cruz. Add the doubtful Ereck Flowers and questionable Robert Ayers, the Giants could be without multiple starters.

The Redskins won’t be going in 100 percent either, as DeSean Jackson is still recovering from his Week 1 injury and is listed as out. Starting cornerback Justin Rogers has also been ruled out already, while starting linebacker Perry Riley Jr. is listed as questionable.

Because of the injuries both teams are facing, a number of players will have to be relied upon to step up and pick up the slack. When two teams that know each other as well as the Giants and Redskins do, you are also hoping your go-to players can deliver as well.

With that, take a look at five players to keep an eye on tonight when the Giants and Redskins kickoff.
