24. Detroit Tigers (60-70) The Tigers were hanging around the Wild Card race for a little while after the trade deadline, but they are now fading fast. Justin Verlander finding his old form in a win over the Angels, coming within three outs of a no-hitter. That is the only thing keeping the Tigers from being on the worst losing streak in baseball, as that is their only win in their last 10 games. Pitching continues to be the problem, as Alfredo Simon got hammered twice this week, and Bud Farmer continues to get crushed seemingly every time he takes the mound.

23. Oakland Athletics (57-74) The Athletics had an average week, losing a series to the Mariners before defeating the Diamondbacks in one over the weekend. The Athletics are the only team that is truly out of the playoff race in the AL, as they are the sole organization that is double-digit games away from a playoff spot. That’s the way things have gone for the Athletics this season, as they just were never able to shake some bad luck.

22. Baltimore Orioles (63-67) It’s not quite panic time yet for the Orioles, but it is getting close. Their road trip was a disaster, as they lost three of four to the Royals before getting swept by the Rangers. They are now sitting 5.5 games behind the Rangers for a Wild Card spot, as they picked a poor time to go on a four-game losing streak and to lose 10 of 11. The offense has really disappointed, as they have scored more than three runs only once in that stretch. One culprit is Manny Machado, who is no longer hitting atop the order and setting a poor tone for the rest of the offense.
