Last but not least, the memorable game against the division rival Eagles on September 30th, 2007 when Umenyiora set a Giants franchise record. In what was a rather ugly game all around, the Giants battered the Eagles in a 16-3 victory with Umenyiora leading the way.

Donovan McNabb spent more time on his back than on his feet in this one, as the Giants pummelled the Eagles starting quarterback. Umenyiora led the assault, setting a franchise record with six games in the game. That was half of the total the Giants had in the game, as Tuck and Mathias Kiwanuka both had multi-sack games as well.

In addition to the sacks, Umenyiora made sure to get a couple of his patented strip sacks as well. He forced two fumbles on the evening, one of which was recovered by Kawika Mitchell. McNabb fumbled three times overall in the game, losing that one that Mitchell recovered.

That six sack game came in the middle of a six game winning streak that started with Tom Coughlin on the hot seat. After losing the first two games of the season to the Cowboys and Packers in ugly fashion, the Giants needed to respond and that is exactly what they did. Umenyiora’s six sack game punctuated the six-game winning streak, and was the highlight of the season before the Giants pulled off the first of their two improbably Super Bowl runs.
