New York Jets: Darrelle Revis talks about Odell Beckham Jr.

The New York Jets have arguably the best cornerback in the league since the signing of Darrelle Revis. Their fellow roommate, the New York Giants have one of the brightest young receivers in the NFL in Odell Beckham Jr.

On Saturday night, the two great players will be on the field together at MetLife Stadium, and will likely be squaring off against each other.

Beckham took the NFL by storm last season with his amazing catch against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night football. The catch was heard about by nearly every person with a pulse, including Revis.

“It was pretty awesome,” said Revis to Dom Cosentino of NJ.com “It was probably by far the best catch I’ve probably ever seen. I don’t know. It was weird how he caught it. But at the same time, [for] him to have that type of focus during that time, during that play, him being able to snag the ball like that—it was a pretty cool play.”

Beckham was however a lot more than just one spectacular catch, as he went on to have one of the greatest rookie seasons of all-time.

“I haven’t really seen much film on him,” Revis said of Beckham to Cosentino “He’s had, I guess, an awesome year last year. Everybody’s noticing what he’s done last year, and you’ve got to tip your hat off to whatever he’s done last year.”

The great rookie season for Beckham has brought attention to him, as now defenses will be focusing on stopping the explosive receiver.

“He just has to step up to the challenge,” Revis said to Cosentino. “He’s one of the best receivers in the league. He definitely is maybe a target for coaches to game plan, or maybe slide the coverages over his way, or maybe a safety, or maybe a double [team]. The guy did awesome last year. This comes with it, in years after. It’s something that he has to work at.”

The Jets will have their hands full with Beckham on Saturday, but Beckham will also have his hands full with Revis and Antonio Cromartie. The third preseason game is generally the final tune up for the regular season, as we can expect to see the starters for both teams for at least the first half, and likely into the third quarter.

While the preseason game won’t mean anything, Revis and Cromartie will both be trying very hard to stop Beckham, who has been held without a catch in two preseason games.

The Jets and Giants will meet on December 6th in a rare regular season game, but we will get a taste of the great matchup between Beckham and Revis on Saturday night.
