The other part of the successful middle of the order for the Yankees has been first baseman Mark Teixeira. Another one of the many question marks for the Yankees coming into the season was the health of Teixeira, So far, Teixeira has been healthy and that has led to an All-Star season.
In the first half, Teixeira is hitting .240 with 20 homeruns and 62 RBIs, as he is one of the best power hitters in baseball. Teixeira ranks first in the American League in RBIs, and he is ranked fourth in the AL in homeruns.
In addition to his great hitting this season, Teixeira is playing very good defensively for the Yankees at first base. Errors have been an issue for the left side of the Yankees’ infield, and Teixeira has certainly helped limit the damage of some poor throws.
With Rodriguez and Teixeira in the middle of the order, the Yankees have shown that they can put runs of the board quickly.
