Alex Rodriguez

Easily the biggest surprise of the first half of the season was the play of Alex Rodriguez. After more than a year away from the game, Rodriguez has bounced back with a season so great that even he likely didn’t see it coming.

In 2015, Rodriguez is hitting .278 with 18 homeruns, 51 RBIs. All of those numbers would have been considered a great overall season for Rodriguez before the season started. Rodriguez has been the designated hitter for the Yankees almost all season, as his mobility is clearly not where it used to be.

Rodriguez has been able to reach a few milestones individually this season, but helping the team win has been Rodriguez’s greatest achievement this season.

Even though he’s not playing in the field, Rodriguez has been a fixture in the middle of the lineup for the Yankees. The surprising production from Rodriguez has been a huge boost to the Yankees, and he is one of the main reasons for their success.
