Injury Concerns

In the previous series, the Mets lost David Wright to a pulled hamstring. They were able to overcome that, as they went on to sweep the Marlins. Can they recover from the injuries suffered in this series?

Joining Wright on the DL will be LHP Jerry Blevins and starting catcher Travis d’Arnaud. Both were lost in the seventh inning of Sunday’s win, as Blevins had a comebacker hit him in his left forearm, resulting in a fracture. In the bottom of the inning, d’Arnaud was hit by a pitch in the right hand by A.J. Ramos, resulting in a fractured hand.

Both injuries will result in rather lengthy DL stints, as Blevins could be out multiple months, while d’Arnaud is looking at 6-8 weeks sidelined. Both will be missed by the Mets, as Blevins had yet allowed a run, let alone a base runner this season, while d’Arnaud was breaking out at the plate with a slash line of .317/.356/.537. Both players will be tough to replace, no matter who is called up from the minor leagues to take their spots.
