Easily one of the best moves made by Brian Cashman in the 2014 season was to bring in the veteran McCarthy from the Arizona Diamondbacks midseason. After struggling in 18 starts with the Diamondbacks in the first half of the season, the Yankees swapped Vidal Nuno for McCarthy in a move that would pay off greatly for New York.

McCarthy starting in 14 games for the Yankees last season with an ERA of 2.89, and a record of 7-5. McCarthy’s strikeout to walk ratio was a fantastic 82:13, which is important in the hitter-friendly Yankees Stadium. McCarthy won’t cost the Yankees a fortune, and has shown to be able to pitch in New York, which makes him a top target of the Yankees.
