87. 27. 81. 100. Final

The New York Knicks were able to pick up a victory over the visiting Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night. With the victory, the Knicks were able to take the season series from Indiana, winning three of the four games.

Tonight was a struggle for both teams offensively. The poor weather seemed to have an impact on the teams as they had lackluster shooting nights. Some of the struggles can be attributed to the defenses.

The Pacers were held to 36.8 percent shooting, making 32-of-87. They weren’t any better from deep, as they made only 8-of-29 from beyond the three-point line, good for 27.6 percent. The Knicks were just a tad bit better, making 35-of-83 (42.2 percent) overall and 9-of-28 (32.1 percent) from deep.

Both teams were pitiful from the foul line, where the Pacers made 60 percent, going 9-of-15. The Knicks weren’t any better, going 8-of-13 for 61.5 percent.

More from New York Knicks

The biggest takeaway for the Knicks tonight is Kristaps Porzingis‘ health. Porzingis injured his thigh when he collided with Monta Ellis in the third quarter. The injury is being called a contusion for now, but Porzingis was in visible pain leaving the court as he had to be helped by his teammates to the locker room.

Other players were able to step up in Porzingis’ absence, as the Knicks had a strong second half. New York outscored Indiana 45-29 the final two quarters of the game to snap their losing streak at three games.

Three Stars

C Willy Hernangomez, Knicks — Hernangomez was one of the players called upon to help replace Porzingis after his injury. Like he has so many times previously this season, Hernangomez responded with a strong performance. Hernangomez scored 13 points off the bench to go along with 16 rebounds, the seventh double-double of the season. He also added four assists, three steals, and one block.

SF Carmelo Anthony, Knicks — Anthony has been playing a ton of minutes in March despite battle some knee soreness. The knee hasn’t seemed to bother him as he has played well, and Tuesday was no different. Anthony scored a team-high 22 points, shooting 8-of-17 from the field, including 3-of-6 from deep. He also pulled down 13 rebounds, adding one assist and one steal.

C Myles Turner, Pacers — Turner has played well against the Knicks this season, and tonight was no different. Turner played 31 minutes, scoring 17 points on 8-of-17 from the field. He also pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds, giving him 12 double-doubles on the season. He also made his presence felt on defense, swatting three shots to go with one steal.
