New York Knicks rumors: Carmelo Anthony intends to stay with the Knicks through the NBA Trade Deadline.

New York Knicks rumors have been quiet in recent days with the NBA on break for the All-Star game. There was only so long they would go without some news breaking, and the quiet ended today.

Carmelo Anthony has been able to avoid some of the New York media noise at the All-Star game. He was originally not selected to take part but was picked by Commissioner Adam Silver to replace the injured Kevin Love. Now, there is another report surrounding his potential trade.

President Phil Jackson has not been bashful sharing his feelings about Anthony. He has bashed Anthony in the media and on social media and is reportedly determined to trade Anthony by the NBA Trade Deadline on February 23rd.

More from Carmelo Anthony

Despite all the pestering from Jackson, Anthony’s resolve to stay in New York has only risen. The more Jackson trashes him, the more Anthony wants to stay. The latest report from Adrian Wojnarowski reinforces that, as he is reporting Anthony plans to stay with the Knicks through the trade deadline.

"“As of right now, Carmelo Anthony’s intention, sources tell me, is to remain in New York,” Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical said Saturday, later adding: “The Knicks have not brought anything to his group that would inspire them to really want to waive this no-trade clause.”“Most of the teams who had had interest in him are looking in other directions right now, and expect Melo to remain in New York, at least for the rest of the season,” Wojnarowski added."

While Anthony has not given the Knicks a list of teams he is willing to waive his no-trade clause for, there have been some reports saying otherwise. A couple of weeks ago it was reported that Anthony would waive his no-trade clause to land with the Boston Celtics. Along with the Celtics, Jackson has engaged the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers in trade talks.

The talks with the Cavaliers didn’t get very far as the Knicks wanted Kevin Love in return. Cleveland balked at that price, and now Love is sidelined because of knee surgery. In talks with the Clippers, Jackson was willing to make a trade without receiving any of the Clippers big three. Instead, talks were centered around Austin Rivers.

Wojnarowski also added that the Clippers could look to add Anthony again around the NBA Draft or in the summer once free agency begins. Completing a deal of this magnitude by the trade deadline is not easy to do. In addition to the full no-trade clause that Anthony possess, he also has a 15 percent trade kicker, meaning, whichever team acquired him will have to pay him an extra 15 percent of what he is already slated to make.

Anthony is owed about $54 million over the remainder of his contract. The last year of the deal is a player option. Anthony holds all the power with the no-trade clause. He will not leave New York unless he wants to, and at this time, it does not sound like he has any plans for leaving.
