The New York Knicks had a tough night on the road against the Washington Wizards on Thursday.

142. 112. 27. Final. 119

The New York Knicks had a rough night against the Washington Wizards. Both teams were on the second night of a back-to-back, but you wouldn’t have known watching the game. Don’t let the final score fool you; this was not as close a game as it would seem. The Wizards controlled it basically from the opening tip on, as the Knicks gave very little effort tonight.

The Wizards were unconscious from deep. You would have never guessed coming into the game that the Wizards ranked 27th in the NBA making only 31.4 percent of their shots from behind the arc.

Tonight against the Knicks the Wizards shot 15-25 from deep, good for 60 percent. It was basically a shoot around for most of the night for the Wizards, as the Knicks just didn’t put any defensive pressure on them.

Five different Wizards made multiple three-pointers tonight and all of them made at least half of their attempts. The only player to not make half of their three-point attempts for the Wizards was Markieff Morris, who was 0-for-2.

More from New York Knicks

All evening the Knicks struggled to stop the Wizards. They allowed them to shoot 54.3 percent from the field as they got whatever they wanted when they wanted. Five players were in double figures for the Wizards on the night.

The Knicks made the final score look respectable with a monster 47 point fourth quarter. They struggled mightily on offense before that, scoring only 65 points the first three-quarters of the game. The starting lineup struggled to slow down the Wizards, who are superior in athleticism. The team as a whole were stuck in mud throughout the night, but the starters were unable to get anything going most of the game.

Two players that did stand out for the Knicks were Brandon Jennings and Justin Holiday. They are the only two players that Jeff Hornacek has consistently relied on off the bench and they brought it tonight.

Jennings had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, adding five rebounds, and one steal. He finished the game with a plus/minus ratio of +19. Holiday scored eight points, knocking down two more three-pointers in the process. He also added four rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Three Stars

PG Derrick Rose, Knicks — Many Knicks didn’t bring it tonight but don’t include Rose in that list. He did everything he could to keep the Knicks in the game. He scored a season-high 27 points, going 8-of-18 from the field, including 3-of-5 from deep. He was a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul line, adding four assists, two rebounds and one steal. He also turned the ball over only twice in 39 minutes.

PG John Wall, Wizards — Wall had his way with the Knicks tonight. He is one of the quickest players in all of the NBA and he showcased that tonight. He had a double-double with 23 points on 7-of-14 from the field, 3-of-5 from deep, with 11 assists. He racked up assists at a fast pace as the Knicks did nothing to slow down the Wizards offensive attack.

SF Otto Porter Jr., Wizards — Porter is enjoying a breakout season and it continued against the Knicks. He got in on the three-point parade, making 4-of-5 on the night en route to 21 points. He got whatever he wanted against Carmelo Anthony, constantly beating him off the dribble and running him off picks. He also added eight rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one block.
