The New York Giants completed their coaching staff this week, as they will have a number of holdovers from Tom Coughlin’s staff.

There will be a lot of new faces joining the New York Giants on the sidelines next season. All of the attention this offseason has gone to former Offensive Coordinator and now Head Coach Ben Mcadoo. How will he handle the transition from Offensive Coordinator to Head Coach. Is he too young? Is he a “young Andy Reid,” as many like to claim?

A mark of a good leader (whether a Head Coach, business executive, or a leader in government, is surrounding oneself with the right support staff to achieve one’s objectives. Today, Mcadoo announced who will be serving on his coaching staff.

Replacing McAdoo as offensive coordinator is former quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan. Replacing him as quarterbacks coach is former St. Louis offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti Jr. Running backs coach Craig Johnson, and tight end coach Kevin Gildbride Jr. will return from last year’s staff under Tom Coughlin.

Mike Solari, entering his 40th season as a football coach, replaces Pat Flaherety as the team’s offensive line coach. Last season Solari served as the Green Bay Packers’ assistant offensive line coach. Lunda Wells returns as assistant offensive line coach, and offensive assistant Ryan Roeder returns at the same position.

Joining him on the offensive side of the ball will be new wide receiver’s coach Adam Henry. Henry previously worked with the San Francisco 49ers as their wide receiver coach, and also has experience working with Odell Beckham Jr.; he is a sneaky good signing for the Giants as they try to reel in the emotions of their passionate star receiver.

On the defensive side of the ball, Steve Spagnuolo will remain the defensive coordinator. The new coaches on defense include former Patriots assistant Patrick Graham, who will coach the defensive line. Former Texans’ assistant Jeff Zgonina will be the assistant defensive line coach. Former Philadelphia Eagle’s assistant Bill McGovern will be the linebackers coach. Aaron Wellman is the team’s new strength and conditioning coach.

These new faces will join several holdovers from last year’s staff. Tim Walton is returning as the secondary and cornerbacks coach, along with David Merrit, who is the secondary and safeties coach. Defensive assistant Rob Leonard, assistant strength and conditioning coach Markus Paul, and performance manager Joe Danos, will resume their roles in those positions.

Tom Quinn will remain the New York Giants’ special teams coach. He will be joined by new assistant special teams coach Dwayne Stukes.

All in all, the Giants will be retaining 12 people that were a part of Coughlin’s staff from last season. It is nice to have some continuity on a coaching staff, but it remains to be seen how much will change with McAdoo leading the way instead of Coughlin.
