The New York Giants were able to pick up an important victory over the Dallas Cowboys, defeating their NFC East rivals 27-20. With the victory, the Giants will be tied for first place in the division at worst when the week ends, and could be in sole possession if the Philadelphia Eagles lose to the Carolina Panthers. The Cowboys now fall to last place in the division with a 2-4 record.

This was an nice win for the Giants, as it puts some of their demons from past seasons to sleep. It also ended the Cowboys’ seven game winning streak in divisional road games. That was one of a couple streaks the Giants ended of the Cowboys, as their five game winning streak over Big Blue was also snapped.

It was a weird victory for the Giants, as their production didn’t come through the air. Their first touchdown of the game came on the ground courtesy or Nerlens Darkwa. It was the first rushing touchdown of the season for the Giants on the season. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie returned an interception for a touchdown, his second touchdown of the season against the Cowboys. The last one of the game came on a kick return from Dwayne Harris, who brought it 100 yards to the house for the game winning score.

It was another extremely quiet game for Eli Manning, who attempted only 24 passes in the game. He completed 13 of them for 170 yards, throwing zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. Odell Beckham Jr. and Larry Donnell led the way with four receptions each, but Rueben Randle had the biggest catch down the sideline with a one-handed grab.

The run game for the Giants was able to get on track for the first time this season. Shane Vereen led the way with 56 yards, while Darkwa added a spark with 48 yards on eight carries. Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams both struggled, going for 19 and 13 yards respectively as both could see their roles shrink in the future after what Darkwa did with his opportunity.

The Giants did their job against Matt Cassel, as they forced three interceptions. He made a couple of nice throws on the afternoon, but the three interceptions hurt the Cowboys. Where the Cowboys made their hey was on the ground, where the Giants are looking weaker and weaker every week as the season goes on.

Joseph Randle got injured in the first quarter and Darren McFadden took full advantage. McFadden turned it on back to his Arkansas days, tearing the Giants up for 152 yards on 29 carries and one touchdown. For the game, the Cowboys piled up 233 yards on 41 attempts, averaging 5.7 yards per carry.
