The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins will be taking their rivalry overseas in Week 4, as they will be the first of three NFL games to be played in London this season. The two AFC East rivals normally play a primetime game on Monday Night Football, but this year they were chosen to go overseas and play.

This is a huge game for both teams, as they are both off to surprising starts, but for different reasons. The Jets, sitting at 2-1, picked up wins over the Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3. On the other hand, the Dolphins come in at 1-2, defeating the Washington Redskins before losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills.

That is what makes this rivalry game such an important one. As both teams will be heading into their bye week following the game, they will both want to go into their break on a high note with a victory. For the Jets, they want to keep the good vibes going. They have a matchup with an unpredictable Redskins team that could be a trap game for them as their first meeting with the New England Patriots occurs the week after that; the last thing they want to do is go into that game losing two out of three or being on a three game losing streak.

For the Dolphins, they are lucky to even have a win. They were trailing by an average of 12.3 points per game at halftime of those games, which speaks to their struggles both offensively and defensively. Sitting at 1-2, the Dolphins are approaching desperation mode, as only 15 percent of teams since 1990 have reached the postseason after starting their season 1-3 according to ESPN Stats and Info. Also, there has been some rumors beginning to float around about the job security of Joe Philbin, whose seat would only get hotter if the Dolphins came back 1-3.

Both teams are coming into this game off losses, as the Jets couldn’t get out of their own way against the Eagles, while the Dolphins had their doors blown off by the Bills at home. Both teams will want to end those losing streaks, and for it to happen some players need to step up.
