Things have been crazy for the New York Jets lately, as the situation with Geno Smith has caused quite the stir.

There hasn’t been much support for Smith in the situation, as there were originally reports that Smith stuck his finger in IK Enemkpali’s face.

On ESPN’s Mike and Mike, Marshall answered some questions about Smith, and showed support for his quarterback.

More from Geno Smith

“Did he point his finger in his face? No, he didn’t,” Marshall said. “Geno Smith, he didn’t do anything wrong that day. It’s just an unfortunate situation. It’s a body blow for us, but we have to move forward. We’ll probably have another couple of days, a couple of weeks with the New York media, of answering these questions. But we’re built for this. We don’t any distractions. We just want to move forward. We feel like we have a great opportunity.”

“I was sitting right there and I would say this without going into too many details because we’ve already moved past it: Geno Smith did nothing wrong,” Marshall said. “He did nothing wrong. And that’s all I’m going to say about that because we have to move forward and I don’t want to be a distraction to our team, but Geno Smith did everything the right way.”

The biggest thing for the Jets is to try and move forward, and Marshall understands that this has been a distraction.

“I’m proud of the kid since I’ve been here, but I’m not answering anymore Geno Smith questions,” he said. “We have to move forward and I don’t want to be a distraction to my team. There’s a lot of speculation out there. All we can do is move forward.”

Marshall wasn’t the only Jets’ wide receiver to support Smith, as Eric Decker also supported Smith in recent interview with NJ.com

“It’s something where you go through the bumps and the grind of camp, and you stick together as a team. Unfortunate situations may happen, but I think sometimes, these make us stronger. We’ve all got Geno’s back. We all care for him, and hope for a speedy recovery. And IK got a new start.

“Really, that’s the bottom [line] of it. We’re going to move on. I think if you dwell on these things and you keep talking about them and bringing them up, you can’t move forward. It’s like life. If anything happens, you’ve got to find a way to move forward. So we’ve got the support of Geno. It’s a brotherhood in that locker room.”

Marshall has been the most adamant person that it wasn’t Smith’s fault, which is a strong locker room figure to support Smith.

It has been a big distraction for the Jets, but it is good to see some of Smith’s teammates come to his defense.
