The New York Giants went out and signed quarterback Geno Smith this offseason. Could the former Jet be the future at QB for Big Blue?

New York Giants fans, lookout, you all might be on line for a Geno-coaster in the not-so-distant future.

Former first-overall pick Geno Smith is suiting up in blue this season, and could potentially be the next starter. Smith is coming off a rather underwhelming career with the New York Jets, but don’t be surprised if he turns it around.

Working under Eli Manning could be the thing Smith needs to turn his career into the right direction. Manning is a proven winner that can help a young quarterback learn the ropes of the league.

Let’s face it, Smith got thrown into a tough situation with the Jets. He was expected to be the savior from day one with a team that lacked any semblance of a receiving corps or an offensive line.

Any rookie in that situation is destined for failure.

Smith is going to be a good student, and if he finds a rhythm, he could be the future starter.

I understand that Smith brings baggage to the table, but it’s something the Giants should be willing to work with.

The guy is a former number one pick. He is capable of being that good, and he just needs a chance to prove it.

Of course, this is looking a few years into the future, but it will come sooner than everyone thinks. Smith is already in the situation of learning the system, and he will sooner or later find the field.

It’s not something to necessarily be excited for, but it shouldn’t be something fans are already worrying about.

If given the right tools, Geno Smith could be a good starter in the NFL.
