So far it has been a good ride for the New York Yankees, who are now coming off two series wins against two tough teams, the Houston Astros and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

It wasn't easy but the Yankees were able to pull off the impossible. The team now enters the season with a record of 6-1. This record is tied for their third-best seven-game start to a season in franchise history. Only the 1933 and 1927 teams had better records. Not to mention that this is New York's first series win in Arizona since June 2010.

Nestor Cortes' Early Season Struggles Continue

It has not been an easy ride for Nestor Cortes yet so far. He has a new issue with going through the first inning. Lately, in the first innings of the first two games he started, he has been getting hit hard. So far this season in first innings pitched he's posted eight hits, six earned runs, two walks, one strikeout, and an ERA of 27.00.

After getting through the first inning he does have better numbers afterwards. After getting through the first inning, he's posted eight innings pitched, five hits allowed, one earned run, two walks, six strikeouts, and a 1.13 ERA. Something needs to change for Nestor moving forward.

The Yankees cannot keep having him pitch like this with their ace Gerrit Cole sidelined for two months already.

Carlos Rodon Continues to Step Up for the Yankees

Last year was indeed a tough season for Carlos Rodon. This season so far, not so much.

Rodon has pitched better deep into games, giving the team a chance to win crucial games. Even though he hasn't earned his first win of the season yet, he has been terrific. It feels like he's been the true ace of the team.

On Wednesday, he had a great outing versus Arizona aside from the two-homer he surrendered. He got through five innings pitched, allowing just seven hits, two runs, two earned runs, and three strikeouts. His ERA has also dropped to 2.79.

After their hot start, the Yankees are now +360 favorites to win the American League. Head over to FanDuel Sportsbook now to get in on the action.
