Tuesday night kicked off a new edition of Hard Knocks as the HBO crew followed the New York Giants this entire off-season making a new version of the show. There may have been no better time to follow the Giants as drama ensued in free agency while the team made a massive trade and had to consider moving on from quarterback Daniel Jones. Here are the four biggest takeaways from Episode 1 of HBO's Hard Knocks.

1. Joe Schoen Didn’t Feel That Saquon Barkley Would Get a Massive Deal

The episode promptly started with Joe Schoen and the rest of the Giants brass discussing the potential deal with Saquon Barkley. There was one member of the staff, Chris Rossetti, who felt that Barkley would get paid while it seemed everyone else felt the open market wouldn't be kind to him. You then see Schoen tell Barkley that he thinks he should test the open market which as we all know ended with Barkley landing in Philadelphia.

2. The Staff Loved Two Free Agent Running Backs

The show also gave fans a look at a meeting where the team discussed potential options at running back. The first back the staff talked about glowingly was Zack Moss whom Schoen drafted in Buffalo but, he signed with the Bengals. The other back that was brought up glowingly was Devin Singletary who Schoen and Brian Daboll knew from his time in Buffalo. The team ended up signing Singletary after losing Barkley to Philly.
