The New York Jets have made a move to bolster their defense reuniting Robert Saleh with his former defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw. The former first-round pick is coming off of his best season with 3.5 sacks and 25 tackles in 17 games played. The deal is a one-year deal giving the Jets a low-risk high-reward signing on the defense.

The move to sign Kinlaw will help the Jets in replacing defensive tackles Quinton Jefferson and Al Woods, both of whom are unrestricted free agents. Kinlaw will provide the Jets with upside at just 26 years old, the former first-rounder could provide the Jets with a long-term solution next to Quinnen Williams.

The Jets will need improved production from Jermaine Johnson, Will MacDonald IV, Quinnen Williams, and Javon Kinlaw after losing free agent Bryce Huff in free agency to the Eagles. The Jets' defense has the pieces to be a championship-caliber unit if the team can get a higher level of productivity out of its pass rushers.

The Jets' biggest need remaining on the defense is at the safety position as Jordan Whitehead is an unrestricted free agent. The Jets will in all likelihood look to add a safety on day two or three of the draft as this year's safety class is deep. The names to watch will be Javon Bullard, Calen Bullock, and Jaden Hicks among several other safeties.

Offensive Tackle is the Focus Now for the Jets

After losing Aaron Rodgers for the season the top priority for the Jets will be signing the players to protect their aging star. The offensive tackle market has been slow moving with only Michael Onwenu signing on a massive deal. The Jets could potentially get a great deal with Aaron Rodgers's friend David Bakhtiari who was recently released and has struggled with injuries. Other key names include La'el Collins, Tyron Smith, and Jonah Williams all of whom may be in play for the Jets.
