There were no expectations for the Washington Capitals in terms of making the playoffs this season. Despite their odds, the Caps sit one point behind the Penguins' 86 points with three games to play, all of which will be difficult facing the Lightning, Bruins, and Flyers.

If the Capitals get into the playoffs look out as they'll have playoff experience with Alexander Ovechkin, TJ Oshie, Dylan Strome, and Tom Wilson all in the lineup. Charlie Lindgren has provided the Capitals with great goaltending coming off of a 41-save shutout against the Red Wings while allowing just 2.78 goals per game. The Capitals got to this point without much production from Evgeny Kuznetsov whom they parted ways with at the deadline.

The Capitals are certainly still a tough out for the Rangers despite their aging core. The Caps still can bring the physicality in a series against the Rangers while Ovechkin looks like he still has no plans on slowing down. They have a goalie in Charlie Lindgren who can catch lightning in a bottle and carry the team through any series. Behind Lindgren is Darcy Kuemper, a Stanley Cup champion who also has what it takes to carry a team to a title.
