Rangers' Win vs. Coyotes Highlights Championship Readiness
The New York Rangers recently become the first team to secure a spot in this years playoffs, and it wasn't long before they followed that up with an incredibly show of skill in last weekends game against the Arizona Coyotes.
The Rangers lead a remarkable turnaround, defying the odds to achieve victory in a game that will be remembered for its record-breaking achievements.
Goals in the first two periods were scored by Ryan Lindgren and Alexis Lafrenière, who scored twice. This helped the Rangers secure an easy 3-0 lead against Arizona.
However, in an unsual setback, the New York Rangers suddenly found themselves tied against their much weakeropponent. Despite taking control of the game early on, the Rangers found themselves in an alarming situation - seeking any opportunities to secure a victory.
Then, as the third period came, three other Rangers found themselves scoring, allowing a gap to make it 6-3. Chris Kreider, Zac Jones, and Barclay Goodrow managed to put the Rangers up within 10 minutes of the third, unbeknownst of what would happen next.
Arizona wasn't letting up just yet. Moments later, the Yotes brought the score to 6-5.
However, Arizona stood no chance against the Rangers as forward Artemi Panarin and Lafrenière both managed to score on an empty net, ending the game at 8-5 for a Rangers victory. Thanks to this turn of events, Lafrenière secured a hat trick, marking a historic milestone in his career as his first ever hat trick recorded in the NHL.
This victory over Arizona additionally marked a historic milestone for Jonathan Quick. This win was Quick's 392nd NHL victory, passing former record-holder Ryan Miller for the most wins by an American goalie.
Now that the Rangers have successfully secured their 50th win, things are looking really good for the New York hockey team. The question looms: Do they have what it takes to win the cup after two decades?
