New York Giants Draft Grade: Malik Nabers Transforms the Offense
Heading into tonight's NFL draft, it seems like there were three real possibilities for what the New York Giants could do with the No. 6 overall pick.
Rather than selecting a Daniel Jones replacement or trading back to add some extra draft capital, the G-Men decided to make a huge splash and give the offense its new top playmaker.
With the No. 6 pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Giants selected LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers — a pick that reminded many of the selection of LSU's Odell Beckham Jr. back in 2014.
What Malik Nabbers Brings to The Team
Indeed, Nabbers will change the dynamic for the Giants team when they open up their 2024-25 season later this year. This team is hungry and motivated to make the playoffs after failing to do so last season.
A player like Nabbers makes the playoffs a much more realistic possibility. He's a physical receiver who has elite ball skills and route-running ability. That helped him catch 89 passes for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior last season.
He joins Darius Slayton, Wan' Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt and Isiah Hodgins as a solid group of wide receivers we might see make an impact this year, and Nabers is clearly already the top man on the depth chart.
Nabers could, in fact, be the best wide receiver the Giants have in a while. His play at LSU says it all. He's ready to finally give the Giants another 1,000-yard wide receiver, and he gives Daniel Jones a legitimate weapon as he plays for his job this season.
Of course, if Jones is gone, Nabers also makes this a much better landing spot for a potential rookie quarterback next season too.
