The six-year veteran running back is set to hit free agency in March and has made it abundantly clear that he'd prefer to avoid another franchise tag from the Giants.

If it is the end of an era, Barkley's time in New York was mixed, to say the least. Although he dazzled at times and even racked up 7,311 scrimmage yards with 47 TDs over 74 games, the heights he reached could've been much higher had he not missed a total of 25 games due to various injuries.

While the Cowboys didn't have the worst run game in the league, the 112.9 rushing yards they averaged per game (14th) was quite the drop from 131.7 in 2022 (9th), making it clear that Tony Pollard might not be RB1 material.

Adding Barkley to Dallas' elite offense would be one way to get the backfield back on track. After all, it was only in 2022 that he rushed for over 1,300 yards and could return to that form behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL today.
