After what was a horrible 2023 season for the New York Giants and Daniel Jones, nearly everyone expects the two sides to be heading towards a divorce post-2024. The Giants can get out of Daniel Jones' massive contract at a lesser cap hit following this season and the Giants did everything they could to trade up for Drake Maye in this year's draft.

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report posted a bold prediction that the Giants would move on from Jones during the regular season in a trade to embrace a tank for a top draft pick where they could draft his successor. There was no proposed trade package but, trading Jones is highly unlikely.

For starters, Jones' massive salary makes it incredibly difficult for the Giants to find a trade partner who can take on such a big salary. Even if a team had the cap space, would they be willing to give up any assets to take on a quarterback the Giants plan on dumping this offseason?

The best-case scenario for the Giants would be a contending team losing its starting quarterback thrusting them towards a trade. However, most contending teams are at or near the salary cap and may feel better about their backups or a veteran free agent over Jones.

Giants' Talent Could Keep Them From Finding a Jones Replacement

Even if Jones struggles this season, there's so much talent on this roster that the Giants may win a few too many games keeping them from drafting the heir apparent. The Giants' defensive front is loaded with Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence, and Kayvon Thibodeaux which could allow the team to win some low-scoring affairs.

As we saw this past season, subpar quarterback play could help the Giants steal a few games, which may hurt the team long-term.
