It's been a busy weekend for New York Knicks President Leon Rose as he's building out the bench for this Knicks team. On Saturday, the team signed sharp shooting guard Landry Shamet and on Sunday, Leon Rose brought back former New York Knick Marcus Morris.

The Knicks announced on Sunday Night the contract via a press release on Twitter.

Marcus Morris' was signed to an Exhibit Nine Contract which means that his contract is not guaranteed and won't count against the Salary Cap until the start if the season. This is likely to give the Knicks additional wiggle room to explore other options while also protecting them in case Morris gets injured or doesn't make the team.

The Knicks signed Marcus Morris and he played for the team during the 2019-2020 season before the team traded him after 43 games to the Los Angelese Clippers in exchange for Maurice Harkless and a 2020 1st round pick.

Morris spent the 2023-2024 season between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers only appearing in 49 games. In those 49 games, Morris averaged 6.4 points per game while shooting 40.3% from beyond the arc.

Not a massive move but, a smart one by Leon Rose

This move won't be the signing that pushes the Knicks ahead of teams like the Celtics, Nuggets, or Mavericks but, he'll be a valuable piece for this team. Having as many "3-and-D" wing players as possible is the name of the game and adding Morris gives you yet, another piece. Morris also gives this team positional flexibility as he can also slot in as a power forward or a center in smaller lineups. If Morris is healthy he should make this team and could prove to be a vital bench piece.
