Leon Rose and the New York Knicks have had a busy offseason, with several new additions improving their team significantly. The Knicks' offseason included trading for Mikal Bridges, re-signing OG Anunoby and Precious Achiuwa, signing Cam Payne, and extending star point guard Jalen Brunson and head coach Tom Thibodeau.

Brunson's historic $113 million pay cut allowed the Knicks to sign depth for their bench, setting them up to be long-term contenders in the Eastern Conference and compete with teams like the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Indiana Pacers.

The Knicks have finally filled their final roster spot with the addition of sharpshooter Landry Shamet, rounding out the team heading into the 2024-25 NBA season, who signed a one-year deal with New York. The 27-year-old joins the Knicks' talented backcourt after playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, and Washington Wizards throughout six seasons in the league.

Last season, the veteran guard averaged 7.1 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists. In 46 games with the Wizards, Shamet shot 43.1 percent from the field and 33.8 percent from three-point range. He has career averages of 8.7 points and 38 percent on three-pointers and shot a career-best 42.2 percent from downtown as a rookie with the Sixers.

NBA News: Knicks Sign SG Landry Shamet

Shamet has previous experience playing with new Knicks teammates Payne and Bridges while with the Phoenix Suns. Now he joins his former teammates in New York, where these new additions hope to significantly boost the Knicks' offense, which was down to three guards at the end of the playoffs last season.

Many believed the Knicks would pursue another big man after losing center Isaiah Hartenstein in free agency to the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, New York prioritized their shooting this summer and will rely on Mitchell Robinson, Julius Randle, and Achiuwa to run their frontcourt next season.

With Shamet, Payne, and Bridges joining Brunson, Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo, and Deuce McBride in the backcourt, the Knicks are set up to succeed as a dominant offense next season. The Knicks' injuries hurt them the most last season, so now, with plenty of scorers and depth at the guard position, they hope this will allow them to make a deep playoff run.
