Key Giant Exceeds Expectations in Shocking Week 3 Win
By Colin Chatto
The New York Giants have entered the win column with a 21-15 win over the Cleveland Browns, and a new rising star is born for New York. Malik Nabers is the real deal, with a dominant two-touchdown performance leading the charge on the offensive side.
Just a week prior, Nabers had a 127-yard day against the Washington Commanders, but a crucial dropped pass on a fourth down led to a game-winning field goal, and his performance was completely erased. This week against Cleveland he was able to move on and put the Giants offense on his back with a two-touchdown day to go along with 78 receiving yards.
It is no secret that Brian Daboll is looking to get the ball to his best play-maker with 37 targets through Nabers' first three games. To compare the impact he has made through his first three games look at the numbers between Nabers and Beckham Jr.
In 2014 Odell Beckham Jr. through his first three games with the Giants had 10 receptions, 106 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. Malik Nabers in his first three games has 23 receptions, 271 receiving yards, and three touchdowns.
It is truly incredible to witness what Nabers has done in the early part of the Giants' 100th season, but it is going to be interesting to see how Daboll continues to use him. The Cleveland Browns adjusted to him in the second half with Denzel Ward matching up with the Giants' number one receiver consistently, and kept him in check. Whether it is with jet sweeps, quick routes, or motion across to get Nabers in the slot they will find ways to get the football to their play-maker.
