Juan Soto Yankees Debut Date Revealed
By Cem Yolbulan
The day Yankees fans have been waiting for ever since they acquired Juan Soto back in December is finally here. The star slugger is about to make his debut in pinstripes.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone made the announcement to reporters on Thursday that he is planning on starting Soto and Aaron Judge on Sunday in his spring training debut.
Yankees News: Juan Soto to Make His Debut on Sunday
The Grapefruit League contest against the Toronto Blue Jays will be the first chance Yankees fans will get to see their All-Star in action.
Even better, fans will not have to wait for much longer next time they see Soto in action, either. Boone said that Soto is also scheduled to play in Monday's game at home against the Minnesota Twins, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.
The Bombers start their spring slate Saturday with a road contest against the Detroit Tigers. Most of the key starters will not be traveling with the team for that occasion.
On Sunday, the Yankees will have Carlos Rodon starting the game while Marcus Stroman is scheduled to pitch in the other contest of the afternoon against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Soto has expressed his excitement for his debut and the chance to share the field with his superstar partner Aaron Judge. The Silver Slugger was hitting bombs at the most recent batting practice earlier on Thursday.
Whether the Yankees will be able to keep the 25-year-old long-term remains the most important question for the organization going forward. There hasn't been much progress on that front as the sides haven't come to an extension agreement yet.
Regardless of what happens with Soto's future, the Yankees have one of the most exciting and talented teams in the majors. New York has the third-best odds (+800) of any team to win the World Series this season. Head over to BetMGM to claim your sign-up bonus and back the Bombers.
