This upcoming season has to be the year to win for the New York Jets as they enter what should be their first full season with Aaron Rodgers leading the offense. The Jets further their championship intentions clear by signing short term deals this off-season with veterans Tyron Smith, Mike Williams, Javon Kinlaw.

The biggest move may have been when the Jets traded with the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire edge rusher Haason Reddick. Apparently Joe Douglas didn't do his due diligence on Reddick's contract situation though, as the worst-case scenario has now been realized to start training camp.

The Jets lost Bryce Huff this off-season as he departed to Philadelphia making the presence of a new star edge rusher a priority. The trade for Reddick made a ton of sense: the Jets got a reliable pass rusher for a discount because he wanted a new contract. And if you're going to trade for a player like that you'll be ready to give them an extension, right?

Well it's now July, training camp is kicking off and the Jets will be without their star offseason acquisition as Reddick holds out for a new contract. The Jets have yet to get Reddick onto the field as he also skipped mini camp while also waiting for a new contract.

Terrible Look for Joe Douglas and the Jets

Last season, the Jets were a disaster as with Zach Wilson at the helm the team floundered while leak after leak made the Jets look incompetent. This season Aaron Rodgers said the team needed to rid the building of everything that has nothing to do with winning. The Jets instead will now deal with the media frenzy around their top edge rusher missing training camp, as the team has yet to get him on the field. You have to wonder whether Joe Douglas even talked about his plan with Haason Reddick at all? The Giants traded for Brian Burns and instantly inked a deal, while the Jets have seemingly made no progress on a deal with their star. This is not a winning front office move.
