Jets Post-Combine 7-Round Mock Draft: O-Line Gets Huge Boost
254th Overall Pick - Cornelius Johnson - Wide Receiver
Through three New York Jets mock drafts, the only player I've mocked to the team three times is Michigan wide receiver Cornelius Johnson. The Wolverines' receiver was hurt by the system he played in as Michigan abandoned the passing game in several of their biggest games.
The best aspect of Johnson's game is his ability to be a vertical threat, as shown with his 4.44 forty-yard dash. Johnson's unique blend of size and speed stands out as a potential day-three pick who becomes an NFL mainstay.
Adding Johnson to a Jets offense that lacks talent at the receiver position could give the team a potential low-cost development piece for the years to come.
257th Overall Pick - Tory Taylor - Punter
There's no pick less exciting than your team drafting a punter, but Tory Taylor landing in New York would be a massive win for the Jets. Thomas Morstead is a pending free agent this offseason and the team could add a long-term main starter here at the end of the draft.
At Iowa Taylor became a weapon, helping the Hawkeyes win football games through field positioning. Taylor averaged 46.3 yards per punt, a Big Ten record, with the most career punt yards in NCAA history while landing 32 punts inside the 20.
Taylor wouldn't be a pick that gets fans that excited, however, he could become a weapon for the Jets going forward.
