Jets Post-Combine 7-Round Mock Draft: O-Line Gets Huge Boost
Outside of the drama surrounding Mecole Hardman, the NFL Combine week was pretty quiet for the New York Jets. The team's top priority remains finding a way to bring back edge rusher Bryce Huff in free agency.
The top priority for the team remains building around Aaron Rodgers as the team will need to build around the quarterback otherwise they won't be able to compete in 2024.
10th Overall Pick - Amarius Mims - Tackle
The Jets tried to land a cornerstone tackle in the 2023 draft before missing out due to the team's jumping the Jets. They'll likely need to move up in this year's draft to land one of the top-tier tackles but, here they stand pat and land Amarius Mims.
In most draft classes Mims would standout as the clear cut best tackle in the class however in a class as loaded as this draft's he's ranked anywhere from the top tackle to the fourth tackle
Mims has played three years in the SEC against NFL-caliber edge rushers and has been impressive. At 6"8, 340 pounds, Mims is a mountain and a mauler in the run game as well as impressive in the passing game. The main concern with the Jets adding Mims will be which tackle position he plays as he's spent his time at Georgia playing on the right side.
72nd Overall Pick - Kris Jenkins - Defensive Tackle
The Jets bring back a familiar name in Kris Jenkins, as his father Kris Sr., played for the team from 2008-2010. The younger Jenkins was a monster on the interior of one of the nation's best defenses at Michigan with 37 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
If the Jets could add Jenkins in this year's draft, they'll have an incredible duo on the interior with him and Quinnen Williams. New York has looked to find a reliable option next to Williams for the past few year's through veterans and undrafted free agents which makes adding a long-term option much more attractive.
